Judge Judy: "Her Honor" Mentoring ProgramBack for its eighth year: Her Honor Mentoring.

Fifty-one promising young women will meet their professional women mentors during the Her Honor luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, at the Larchmont Shore Club, 1 Oak Bluff Ave., Larchmont.

Funded by Judge Judy Sheindlin, the presiding judge on the #1 daytime syndicated show, "Judge Judy," and developed by her daughter, Nicole Sheindlin, Her Honor Mentoring is administered by the Westchester County Office for Women, a division of County Executive Robert P. Astorino's Office, and The Mental Health Association of Westchester.

"Mentors play such an important role in a person's life," Astorino said. "Not only will these young women get on-the-job training, but they will also see first-hand what it takes to set goals and succeed in the workplace. The county's Office for Women is happy to once again provide support for this valuable program."

Mentees were selected this year from the following high schools: Lincoln, Mamaroneck, Mount Vernon, Nellie Thornton, Saunders and White Plains.

"Celebrating the promise of youth and the wisdom and experience of their generous mentors is a wonderful reason to stay involved in this terrific program," said Judge Sheindlin.

The girls were selected with the help of their school districts and will receive stipends for their work. They will spend a minimum of four hours per week for six months with their mentor at her work site. In addition, the program supplements the mentee's work experience with monthly life skills workshops. The girls will take courses in everything from budgeting money, business attire, professional expectations, healthy relationships, dining etiquette, public speaking and advocacy.

All mentees and mentors will also receive a free hard copy of Judge Judy's newly published book, "What Would Judy Say? Be the Hero of Your Own Story." In this book, Judge Judy has an honest conversation about what it really takes to get what you deserve out of life, how to define your worth, and ultimately create your own destiny.

Judge Judy is providing the ebook for free at www.whatwouldjudysay.com/be-the-hero.
