DigitalCountiesAwardWestchester has once again been named one of the top 10 digital counties in the United States by the Center for Digital Government and the National Association of Counties (NACo). County Executive Robert P. Astorino accepted the award Oct. 11.

The is the eighth year that Westchester has been recognized for its exemplary use of technology to improve services and efficiency.

"This accomplishment reflects the leadership of John McCaffrey, commissioner of our Department of Information Technology, and the hard work of his staff," said Astorino. "Technology is changing all the time and they have done everything to stay on top of these changes."

Thousands of U.S. counties were invited to participate in the 2013 Digital Counties Survey. Counties were evaluated on their online service delivery, infrastructure, architecture and governance models. Westchester County tied for sixth place in the survey.

"Much of our work is behind the scenes, but it plays a very important role in the Westchester community," said McCaffrey. "I am honored that the Center for Digital Government and NACo has acknowledged our innovative technology here in Westchester."
