Summer CampsWhether your youngster is a nature nut, an aspiring musician or a sports hound, Westchester County Park's popular summer camps offer something for kids of all ages and interests.

Now in its second year, the Perfect Pitch and Swing Baseball Camp provides seven sessions of summer instruction for children age 8 through 12 at V.E. Macy Park in Ardsley. The camp uses unique and innovative training methods that combine traditional baseball skill development with disciplines from other sports. Campers attend a full-day program from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with one-week sessions beginning June 24 and running through Aug. 9. Boys and girls in grades 1 to 9 can hit the boards at the air-conditioned Westchester County Center during the Slam Dunk Basketball Camp. "Little Hoopers" in grades 1 and 2 runs from 8:30 a.m. to noon for $150 per session. Campers in grades 3 through 9 attend from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for $330 per session. Four, one-week sessions begin Monday, July 1. Multi-week and sibling discounts are available. A special discount team rate of $230 per camper per week is also offered for eight or more members from a basketball team who sign up for the same week. Kids ages 10 through 17 can hit the greens during the "Hole-in-One" Junior Golf Camp offered at the six county golf courses: Dunwoodie and Sprain Lake in Yonkers; Hudson Hills in Ossining; Maple Moor in White Plains; Mohansic in Yorktown Heights; and Saxon Woods in Scarsdale. Overseen by top Professional Golf Association pros, the camp meets for two hours daily and runs in week-long sessions. Fee for each session is $50. Times and days vary at each course. A Volleyball Camp for girls in grades 6 through 10 is also available in two, two-week sessions beginning July 29 at the Westchester County Center. The middle school camp for grades 6 to 8 runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a fee of $125 per session. High school camp for grades 9 through 12 runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for $175 per session. The Children's Summer Ecology Program introduces children in grades 1 through 6 to the natural world and is conducted by experienced naturalists, environmental educators and teachers at three nature centers: Cranberry Lake Preserve in West Harrison; Marshlands Conservancy in Rye; Trailside Nature Museum in Cross River. Youngsters entering grades 7, 8 and 9 can learn outdoor skills that run the gamut from radio-tracking wood turtles to map reading during the Conservationists in Training program offered at Cranberry Lake Preserve in North White Plains and the Trailside Nature Museum at Ward Pound Ridge Reservation in Cross River. The program is held Mondays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in three, two-week sessions, beginning July 8. 'The Westchester Summer Music Center at the Westchester County Center in White Plains is a six-week music instruction program for young people in grades 3 through 12, providing daily class instruction in band and orchestral instruments, as well as keyboard, guitar and recorder. A supervised recreation program is provided for students when they are not scheduled for classes. The program runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. daily, July 1 through August 9. Tuition is $550 for Westchester resident participants registering before May 31; $600 after (keyboard students $600 before May 31 and $650 thereafter).
