CE Astorino meeting the Beach BoysRain couldn't dampen all the "Fun, Fun, Fun" at the Westchester County Center last week as The Beach Boys thrilled a sold-out crowd with its 50th Anniversary tour.

In honor of the performance, Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino declared May 15 to be "The Beach Boys Day," saying the legendary band has brought so much happiness to fans young and old.

"My parents, when I tell them about my job and who I meet, no excitement. But when I told them 'The Beach Boys,' all of a sudden they are jumping up and down — 'Can we come? Can we come?'" Astorino told all five members of The Beach Boys just before they took the stage. "And because the band spans so many decades, people of all ages are fans."

"The band's 50th anniversary also happens to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Westchester County Parks," Astorino continued. "We are thrilled to have such a legendary band perform for us here in Westchester, and the rest of the summer lineup is looking just as great."

The Beach Boys performance marked the return of concerts to the Westchester County Center, which is more typically known for its graduation ceremonies, expos and business conventions.

On July 22, the rock band Boston will make its only New York-area appearance.

Then on Aug. 12, an all-star lineup featuring Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter Band, Rick Derringer, Leslie West of Mountain and SavoyBrown's Kim Simmonds will take the stage at the Rock 'n' Blues Fest.

Comedian Whoopi Goldberg is also scheduled to mix things up on Sept. 14.
