The Westchester County Youth Bureau is offering “Virtual Employment Training by Youth for Youth.”  The training is being presented by Westchester County Youth Board Vice Chair Abe Baker-Butler along with members from the Youth Empowerment Council for Change.

As the school year comes to a close, and summer approaches, there is an increased need for youth employment opportunities. Youth are now faced with the burden of finding jobs in uncharted times amidst a pandemic and will have to learn new technology skillsets to aid them.

The webinar will cover interviewing skills, videoconferencing, and professionalism in the age of Covid-19.  The event will take place on June 2 at 3p.m. utilizing the Webex video conferencing service.

Baker-Butler said: “During this pandemic, it takes a whole new set of skills to successfully navigate the virtual worlds of interviews, employment, and professional norms. This webinar led by youth, for youth will cover what you need to know"

Youth Bureau Executive Director Dr. DaMia Harris-Madden said: “We are excited to offer this training where youth can exercise their leadership skills and assist their peers in developing the soft and hard skills required to obtain a job. Although the job search process has been complicated due to Covid-19, new skill sets to include online searches and interviews lends to a technologically advanced youth workforce”
