While most County residents are at home practicing social distancing, Westchester County Parks staff have found a number of creative ways to bring the parks to you.

Most of the Westchester County Parks remain open, residents may not be able to get around to visiting them as much as normal due to social distance practices and the new realities we all face.

Some of the activities available now or coming soon are computer or smartphone based, while others combine technology with in-person visits to the parks. Several programs involve interactive fun for children; others offer information for people of all ages.

Current activities are:

  • Naturalist Story Time – children’s engagement every Wednesday with different staff naturalist or curator.
  • Short videos featuring our nature center staff, including “Solitary Bees” at Read Sanctuary
  • Natural egg dye “how-to” instruction sheet
  • Zoom – Westchester County Parks virtual backgrounds for Zoom teleconferencing available through social media.
