“Today, Westchester lost a giant. For 42 years, Dr. Joseph Hankin served as president of Westchester Community College - leading them to become one of the region’s premier destinations for young adults and adults who seek to further their education. When Joe took the helm, the college was a small, fenced in campus - and under his leadership it grew into an expansive operation with numerous satellite locations, thousands of enrolled students and home to state-of-the-art technology and infrastructure. Joe was one of the nation’s longest tenured college presidents – longest at a community college – and what made this possible was his heart. Joe cared for his students, and their success, with every fiber in his being. It is a legacy that will last for generations to come. My condolences to Joe’s wife Dr. Carole Hankin and the entire Hankin family during this time.”
