September 19, 2018 -- After issuing a call to action to encourage local residents to join Westchester County’s Boards and Commissions, Westchester County Executive George Latimer added many new members to his advisory boards. Latimer’s public request was intended to bring on new board members who were not previously involved in County government, with fresh ideas and new vision.
Latimer said: “I want everyone to feel like they can be a part of the process. So many residents want to bring their skills and experience to County government, and I am pleased to give them a seat at the table.”
The Board appointees are as follows:
Gloriana Waters, Port Chester – Waters has been appointed to the Deferred Compensation Board. Waters is a retired Senior Executive of the City University of New York, with extensive experience in higher education and public sectors, specializing in leadership, human resources, diversity and inclusion, talent acquisition and management.
Sobeida Cruz, Yonkers – Cruz has been appointed to the Parks, Recreation and Conservation Board. Cruz is the former Vice President of Environmental Justice and Public & Governmental Affairs of the New York Power Authority, Lower Hudson Valley.
Tom Lauro, Tarrytown – Lauro has been appointed to the Professional Prequalification Board. He served as the Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Environmental Facilities for ten years, responsible for the overall supervision and direction of the Solid Waste, Water and Wastewater divisions.
Rachel Kravitz-Boyle, Bronxville – Kravitz-Boyle has been appointed to the Transportation Advisory Board. Kravitz-Boyle also serves as Association Corporation Counsel of the City of Yonkers Law Department, and as the Mayor’s Liaison to the Yonkers Women’s Advisory Board.
Robin Nichinsky, Larchmont – Nichinsky has been appointed to the Criminal Justice Advisory Board. For 21 years, Nichinsky served as the Supervising Attorney and Co-Director of the Immigration Justice Project for the Center for Appellate Litigation in New York. She represents indigent criminal defendants in New York State post-conviction practice, as well as trial courts.
John Flynn, Ossining – Flynn has been appointed to the Fire Advisory Board. Flynn brings more than ten years of experience in fire service, homeland security, emergency management, team leadership and training, strategic planning, logistics and conflict resolution. He also offers training in leadership and incident response.
