July 20, 2018 -- In light of the U.S. Supreme Court Janus v AFSCME decision, Westchester County Executive George Latimer signed an Executive Order to protect the rights of local union workers, by restricting outside agencies from gaining access to their personal information.
Latimer’s Executive Order follows a similar Executive Order issued by Governor Andrew Cuomo, which protects the representation of public sector workers for State entities, and shields their personal information.
Latimer said: “What this Executive Order does is it diminishes the opportunity for people from outside of Westchester County to manipulate the system, to try and destabilize unions because they have their own ideology. We know we’ll have our disagreements, but we will work through them, and we will handle them without any outside interference.”
The Executive Order takes effect immediately.
