Miracle League May 30, 2018 - The Miracle League of Westchester kicked off their adult baseball season today with a fun filled parade and a festive opening ceremony. The league includes over 500 adults with special needs and provides the players a field to play baseball in an organized and safe manner. For the past 12 years, these games have become a welcoming social event for the players and their families and friends.

County Executive George Latimer said: “The Miracle League is a valuable institution that we have here in Westchester. I am proud that our County celebrates people with disabilities and that the league provides these players and their families a field where they can get outside, cheers on their team and have fun.”

Deputy County Executive Ken Jenkins said: “The field today is full of joy and excitement. Baseball is a great sport that teaches us that every member of the team is valuable.”

Director of the Westchester County Office for People with Disabilities Evan Latainer said: “The Miracle League of Westchester provides the disabled community the opportunity with being involved in the game of baseball, a national pastime. Just watching a game brings out so much appreciation of what we all cherish by seeing the excitement, smiles, laughter and teamwork that each player exhibits throughout each game. This is truly a wonderful experience.”

CEO of the Westchester County Office for People with Disabilities Anna Masopust said: “From Halloween through Memorial Day our players anxiously await the Season Opener where they receive their new Uniform shirts and hats, connect with old friends and hear the long awaited chant of “Play Ball.”

Executive Director of the Miracle League of Westchester Rick Monzon said: “We look forward to another wonderful and fun season.”
