County Executive George Latimer with Nancy BarrJanuary 18, 2018 -- Saturday, January 13, marked the first leg of County Executive George Latimer’s “Coffee & Conversation” tour. With stops planned all over the County, Latimer is delivering on his promise of giving County government back to the people by meeting with residents to hear their concerns and questions.

The first stop, taking place at the Port Chester Senior Center and co-hosted with District 6 Legislator Nancy Barr, drew a crowd of about 150 folks brimming with congratulations, questions and concerns on how best to move forward with the task of restoring our County government. Questions, which were not pre-screened or vetted, were asked on nearly every topic and challenge facing our community. From taxes to immigration to how to build a more unified County, Latimer and Barr gave candid answers while spending time giving serious thought to all ideas raised.

“We had a truly inspiring response to our Coffee & Conversation event, with so many people eager to ask questions and discuss what’s going on in the County,” said County Legislator Nancy Barr (D) (Port Chester). “George and I both feel strongly that lines of communication should always be open between representatives and the people we represent. Expect to see many more events like this in the future, and I encourage everyone to participate.”

“These stops around the County serve as a wonderful listening opportunity,” said Latimer. “Government is best served when everyone has a seat at the table and all ideas – on issues big and small – are heard and considered. No one person has a monopoly on good ideas and listening to residents who live, work, and engage in recreational activities in their community allows me to make more informed decisions on how to move Westchester County forward.”
