Westchester Community College Class of 2010Westchester Community College graduated its largest class in history on May 20, presenting diplomas or certificates to all 1,581 students and congratulating them on a job well done.

President Joseph Hankin noted the many accomplishments and success stories within the class: 41 of the students had straight A averages. The youngest graduate was 18; the oldest 73. The valedictorian was 43.

In his greeting to the Class of 2010, County Executive Robert P. Astorino emphasized that learning is a life-long proposition and never stops. He said that while they may have a degree or certificate in hand today that they didn’t have yesterday, their education is far from over.

Learning is always important but never so much so as in difficult times like these when we need to re-energize and adapt to a changing work environment., said Astorino.

"You’ve been given the tools," he said. "Now it’s your turn to go out there and show us what you can do."
