Westchester County is now accepting applications for Public Housing Authorities to make much needed repairs to their housing units, through its Landlord Tenant Assistance Program - Public Housing Authority (LTAP-PHA). Seven million dollars will be made available to Public Housing Authorities (PHA) located within the County, to facilitate necessary repairs and improvements to their properties. The Program is designed to assist housing authorities with maintaining health and safety standards, as well as making renovations that will extend the life of its housing units for low and moderate-income households. Home improvements can include but are not limited to roof replacement, or upgrades to electrical, windows, accessibility ramps, plumbing and heating systems.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “Our administration is committed to expanding the LTAP Program, that will now allow PHA to make much needed repairs to their rental units. We are committed to preserving affordable housing for all income levels, and we know that these funds will help improve the quality of life of our most income vulnerable County households.”
Commissioner of the Westchester County Department of Planning Blanca Lopez said: “The financial support that the County provides for affordable housing is not limited to new developments, but also to preserve existing affordable housing units. Investment in public housing units is imperative as it is a vital source of affordable housing that houses a large majority of low income households. Funds distributed from the LTAP-PHA program to housing authorities will improve the quality of life of many of its residents and hopefully, increase the number of available housing units for rent that are currently vacant due to insufficient capital funds needed for repairs.”
