Westchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino and Thomas Lauro, commissioner of the Department of Environmental Facilities (DEF), will host a breakfast in honor of employees with 10, 20 and 30 years of service on Friday, March 20, from 9 to 10 a.m. at DEF Headquarters, 270 North Ave., 6th Fl., New Rochelle.

"These employees come to work every day to protect the health, safety and welfare of the public," Astorino said. "Whether they work to expand the county's recycling capacity, deliver clean drinking water, maintain our sewers or treat our wastewater, these services are critical and it is important that we thank the individuals who deliver them so well."

The Department of Environmental Facilities is responsible for planning, operating and maintaining wastewater treatment facilities, wastewater collection systems, drinking water treatment and distribution facilities and solid was facilities in Westchester County.

"With the help of these 13 employees as well those who were honored in the past and will be honored in the future, DEF is able to exceed the county's obligation to contribute to a more sustainable society. Because they are great at what they do, their work goes largely unnoticed," Lauro said.
