County Executive Robert P. Astorino is calling on Westchester residents to donate new or used books, sports equipment, school supplies and cell phones as part of the Super Kids-Super Sharing initiative. A collection bin is available until Jan. 15 at the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave., White Plains.

Westchester County teamed up with the National Football League and the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee on the Super Kids-Super Sharing project last month. About a dozen Westchester schools and the local nonprofit organization Let's Play it Forward have already joined the effort.

The NFL added a new feature to this year's collection with Verizon's "HopeLine" program to collect used cell phones, which will be donated to domestic violence prevention organizations and local shelters.

Super Kids-Super Sharing will culminate on January 16 at Riverbank State Park in Harlem, where several students and coordinators from each participating school are invited to attend and deliver the items collected. Representatives from the NFL, New York Jets, New York Giants and the NY/NJ Super Bowl Host Committee will be on hand. Participants will also have the opportunity to enjoy the "Huddle Shuttle," an interactive football display that gives them a chance to test their own football skills.

The Westchester County team stands ready to help. Please contact Elena Rogliano at or (914) 995-2932 to get involved or learn more.
