BridlesideApril 15, 2016 - Nine affordable units in five towns in Westchester County are now available to income eligible homebuyers. The homes, which include single family homes, a two family home and condominium units, are priced between $138,000 and $235,000, and are affordable to families earning up to 80 percent of the county’s Area Median Income. Information on the income requirements and details on the properties, such as floor plans, local schools, parks and public transportation are posted online on the county’s Homeseeker Web pages.

Applications to purchase these homes, in both English and Spanish, are available at Homeseeker and must be submitted by May 10, 2016. All applicants will be notified of the date, time and location of the lottery to select the order in which the potential homebuyers will be reviewed for income eligibility.

Two homes are located in the Town of Cortlandt, one is in the Town of North Salem and one is in the Village of Buchanan. Two condominium units are in the Town of Bedford, two are in the Town of Eastchester, and one condominium is located in the Village of Dobbs Ferry.

In the Town of Cortlandt:

  • 72 Croton Ave. - The 785 square foot second level of this two-family home provides two-bedrooms, one bathroom, a living room and a kitchen for the homeowner. An accessory apartment on the first floor level provides a 575 square foot one-bedroom affordable rental that can generate $800 in monthly income. There are hardwood floors throughout, a terraced yard, and front and side patios. The home is located on a 0.67 acre lot in the Lakeland Central School District, is south of Route 202 with easy access to shopping. The purchase price is $193,000.
  • 25 Oak Road, Montrose - The 2,250 square-foot single-family ranch-style home with four-bedrooms, two-bathrooms, a fireplace, family room, patio and attached garage is on 0.5-acres. The house is two miles from the Cortlandt Metro North train station and near the bus stop for Bee Line route #14. It is located in the Hendrick Hudson Central School District. The purchase price for this home is $215,000.

In the Town of North Salem:

  • 11 Westview Ave. - This 1,728 square foot, raised-ranch style, single family home has three bedrooms and one bathroom. It has hardwood floors, a formal dining room with French doors to the balcony, and a family room with French doors to the deck. The home, on a 0.5-acre site, has a laundry room in the basement and a one car garage. Located in the North Salem School District, the house is three miles from the Croton Falls and Purdys Metro North train stations. The purchase price of the three-bedroom house is $157,083.

In the Village of Buchanan:

  • 176 Henry St. - The 1,400 square-foot, Cape Cod style, single family home has two bedrooms, two and one-half bathrooms, two fireplaces, central air conditioning, a front porch, a rear deck, a detached shared garage and is on 0.22-acres. The home is in the Hendrick Hudson Central School District and near to the Metro North’s Cortlandt train station and the Bee Line Bus routes #14 and #17. The purchase price is $235,033.

In the Town of Bedford:

  • 208 Harris Road, Bedford Hills - This two-bedroom, two bathroom condominium is a 1,243 square-foot end unit on the ground floor. The apartment has hardwood floors, central air conditioning, a stacked washer/dryer and an assigned parking spot. Part of the Bedford Mews Condominium Complex, the amenities include a pool, playground and clubhouse. Pets are permitted. The condominium is in the Bedford Central School District, is near the Metro North train stations of Bedford Hills and Katonah, and Bee Line Bus route #19. The purchase price of the two bedroom condominium is $155,000; the monthly common charge is $416.
  • 208 Harris Road, Bedford Hills - In the same Bedford Mews Complex, this is a ground floor one bedroom, one bathroom, 953 square-foot end unit condominium with a patio and an assigned parking spot. The apartment has hardwood floors, central air conditioning and a laundry hook-up. The purchase price of the one-bedroom condominium is $137,420; the monthly common charge is $345.

In the Town of Eastchester:

  • 20 Oregon Ave. - Part of the Chester Heights Gardens Condominium II complex, this 750 square foot, one bedroom, one bathroom unit has hardwood floors and assigned parking. The complex has a common laundry room and a no-pet policy. In the Tuckahoe Union Free School District, the complex is near to the Bee-Line Bus route #30 and #53 service. The Fleetwood and Bronxville Metro North train stations are 2.5 miles from the site. The purchase price of the one-bedroom condominium is $120,000; the monthly common charge of $430 and includes hot water and heat.
  • 60 Oregon Ave. - This 1,000 square foot, two bedroom, one and one half bathroom condominium unit has hardwood floors, stainless steel appliances, a washer/dryer and assigned parking. The apartment has the same public transportation, pet policy and is in the same school district as described above. The purchase price of the two-bedroom condominium is $154,810; the monthly common charge of $635 includes hot water and heat.

In the Village of Dobbs Ferry:

  • 100 Cedar St.- The 978 square foot, first floor, one bedroom, one-bathroom condominium is part of the Village Green complex. The apartment has hardwood floors, a deeded one-car garage and a dedicated parking space. The amenities of the complex include a pool, clubhouse, playground and three common laundry rooms. Pets are permitted. The Village Green Condominium complex is in the Dobbs Ferry Union Free High School District and is served by the Hudson Line Metro North trains and several Bee Line bus routes. The purchase price of the two-bedroom condominium is $150,000; the monthly common charge of $675 includes hot water and heat.

In order to qualify for these homeownership units, the household income must be at-or-below 80 percent of Westchester County’s area median income, and the unit must be the primary residence of the homebuyer. Current maximum eligible annual household income ranges from $60,400 for a one person household and $69,000 for a two-person household, to $100,050 for a six person household. Income eligible homebuyers selected in the lottery for the nine homes or condominiums can indicate their preferred property, though the household size may limit which units are available to their household.
