MacysOpPromApril 14, 2016 -- Operation Prom will kick off the 2016 prom season in style thanks to a generous donation of 5,510 dresses from Macy's. County Executive Robert P. Astorino today joined with Operation Prom founder and president Noel D'Allacco to thank Macy's and invite students to take part in the 13th annual Operation Prom Dress Giveaway taking place later this month.

"We all know how out of control the cost of prom can get," Astorino said during an event at Macy's White Plains. "But thanks to Macy's and Operation Prom, thousands of young women will now get the chance to have their dream prom."

The donation was a result of the Macy's "Buy 1, We'll Donate 1" program, where for every prom dress purchased on March 26, Macy's donated a prom dress to Operation Prom.

"Macy's always strives to give back to the communities that we serve, and we are very proud to partner with such a wonderful organization as Operation Prom on making prom night magical for hundreds of Westchester County students in need," said Jason Vinci, Vice President Store Manager of Macy's White Plains. "We congratulate Operation Prom on their 13th anniversary and know that the distribution event in the coming weeks will be a tremendous success."

Registration for the Operation Prom Dress Giveaway is required. Please visit www.operationprom.org to sign up today, as spots fill up quickly. This year the Dress Giveaway will take place as follows at the Westchester County Center, 198 Central Ave., White Plains on the following dates:
Friday, April 29, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (High school seniors only.)
Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (All high school students.)

"I want to thank Macy's for this incredibly generous donation, as well as County Executive Rob Astorino for continuing to partner with Operation Prom and believing in our mission," D'Allacco said. "I can't wait to see the happiness all these dresses will bring to those who otherwise couldn't afford the dream dress."

Astorino reminded students and parents that looking good is only part of a great prom experience.

"Above all else, we want to make sure everyone has a safe prom," he said. "So be smart, be sober and have the time of your lives."
