CE Astorino calls for mass transit on new TZBWestchester County Executive Robert P. Astorino Thursday released formal recommendations on the “Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing Project Scoping Information Packet” submitted to the State Department of Transportation on Tuesday. The comments were developed following a review of the packet and the public hearing on the project held last month in Tarrytown.

The comments focus on the support for expediting the project, but call for further scrutiny with respect to identifying funding sources and including mass transit in any present and future plans for the bridge. Read a copy of the remarks.

“As this project moves forward, the recommendations of the counties and municipalities directly affected by the bridge must be considered,” said Astorino. “We have one shot to get this project right and build a bridge that meets the needs of today and the future. The issues of mass transit and how the bridge will be funded are significant and require further and careful examination.”
