Need information about Westchester County in English or Spanish? A great place to start is the county Web site, Westchestergov.com. And you can stay in touch on Facebook and Twitter as well.

From a variety of recreation programs, including access to 50 parks and a wide range of constituent services, Westchester County Government has lots to offer and online access to it.

The goal of WestchesterGov.com is to keep people informed in ways that are readily accessible and responsive to their needs. Typically, the site attracts more than 75,000 visitors a week. But that number can jump dramatically when residents are looking for breaking news, as was the case during Hurricane Irene, when more than 123,000 unique visitors accessed the site.

“Keeping Westchester County informed is a top priority for my administration,” said County Executive Robert P. Astorino. “We have made significant improvements to our Web site and joined Facebook and Twitter to make sure that the latest news is easy to find and that information is always at the fingers tips of all residents.”

Followers of WestchesterGov.com have the option to navigate through the breaking news section, “Westchester Spotlight,” an events calendar and department pages on the main Web site.

In addition to keeping WestchesterGov.com, Facebook and Twitter up-to-date, County Executive Astorino announced a new page on westchestergov.com that will include news, county information and an events calendar in Spanish.

“Westchester County is more diverse than ever.  With one out of every six residents coming from a Hispanic and Latino background, it is important to keep Spanish-speaking residents informed with the latest Westchester County news as well,” said Astorino.

The latest information on Westchester’s Spotlight section will be translated on a weekly basis and included on the Noticias section of the Spanish page.
