Norma DrummondJune 15, 2011 -- Norma Drummond, Westchester County’s Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Planning, has received the Regional Housing Leadership Award from Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress for her contributions to affordable housing.  The award recognizes leaders who have improved the quality of life in the Hudson Valley by creating affordable and workforce housing opportunities.   

“We are proud that Norma’s leadership efforts to provide affordable housing in Westchester have received regional recognition,” said County Executive Robert P. Astorino.  “Norma’s achievement highlights the great efforts being made to ensure that Westchester is affordable for future generations.”

Drummond has been employed with Westchester County for 25 years.  In 2003, she was appointed to serve as Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Planning where she currently oversees housing and community development programs and projects that improve the quality of life and physical environment of Westchester County. 

“Norma's leadership at the state and national level and her personal dedication and commitment to the cause of affordable housing in Westchester will have a lasting impact on the quality of life for all residents for generations to come,” said Commissioner of Planning Edward Buroughs.

The housing award was presented as part of the “Housing the Hudson Valley” conference hosted Monday by Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress in Poughkeepsie.
