Watson Meets CE AstorinoFeb. 24, 2011 -- The category for Jeopardy! is: Proclamations. The answer: Presenting a special  proclamation to a computer. The question: What is a first for County Executive Robert P. Astorino?

And it wasn't just any computer; it was the world-renown Watson, fresh off its victory last week on Jeopardy!

Astorino headed up to IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center Thursday, to present Watson with this proclamation.

Watson may be smart – but it is not capable of accepting awards. Accepting on Watson's behalf was David Ferrucci, the lead researcher for Watson, and Mark Dean, Vice President and Fellow, IBM Research.

The Thomas Watson Research Center is located on Rt. 134, 1101 Kitchawan Road, Yorktown Heights.

Astoriono toured the room where the three-day match was held. Among the many things he learned is that Watson should actually be referred to as an "it," not a he or a she.

The final Jeopardy! answer during the visit to Yorktown was "Feb. 24, 2011." To which the County Executive proclaimed "What is Watson Day in Westchester County?"
